For the record, I am not very badass at all.
I've never gotten drunk before, I've never smoked in my life, and I've never shoplifted anything either. I'm just a Korean girl living in good ol' Minnesota whose idea of a good time is staying with some friends in the basement watching movies and taking ugly photos.
There are still a few things that prevent me from being a straight line though: I swear, I flick people off while I'm driving, I've gone streaking, and I've snuck out of the house (although it was only to take jumping pictures in the dark).
Yeah, I guess my "BA" list makes me seem sort of pathetic.
But this past weekend, a few things brought me up a few notches on the rebel scale.
As you all know, the past Friday was the infamous Friday the 13th. One of my good friends really wanted me to go see the movie Friday the 13th with her because it came out on that day. Now I've written about my intense hatred for scenes in which things pop out of nowhere and I knew that the film was basically made up of a madman jumping in front of the camera with bloody weapons... but to make a long story short, I was convinced to go.
One problem. The movie was rated R. We were both 16. Even though my friend desperately tried to flirt/whine/cajole her way into tickets, we were turned down by the pimply, pale cashier. So we decided to buy tickets for Push after reading a short summary involving psychic warriors or something (?), but after getting our stubs back from another acne stricken employee, it was decided that we were going to assert our badass-ness by sneaking into the forbidden movie.
Oh yeah.
I was pretty much terrified the first five minutes because:
1. The managers kept coming into the theatre and searching in the aisles with their flashlights... and kicking out other badass wannabes mere seats and rows from my friend and I.
2. For some reason, I was worried that my parents would find out... now I don't really know what I was thinking.
Anyways. The movie was stupid. I think I covered my eyes and ears for more than half of it. But the entire day was pretty much redeemed by that one act of my insolence.
Then the next day. Saturday. I drove to watch a friend of mine swim in a meet when I receieved a call from another cohort saying she needed a ride.
Now when I got my license, my parents very strictly told me that I was not to drive anyone other than my brother around within the first 6 months... and I have to say, the rule makes total sense.
However, my rebel-ness must have still existed on me that morning because I decided to go and pick her up.
I'm sure that there are people reading this rolling their eyes and laughing at what I think is so adventurous... but hey, I'm taking it a step at a time, okay?

Sometimes, I would like it if I took it slow. I've always looked old, went into my first bar at 13. It's kind of unflattering to always look like I'm 20-something when I'm not for a couple more years.
Take it slow, though. Depends on what makes you happy, and at the same time, what your friends do.
Michael.
Me and my friends occasionally sneak into screenings we sholdn't, but just because it looks really good. Almost every time the people who were supposed to be in our seats come in and heckle us and we have to blame one person in the group. Something like; 'You're an idiot; you told us this was the right row', as we shuffle into another set of seats. More trouble than it's worth!
