It's Like Been a Century ... of Posts

This is it, people. This is my 100th post. I feel like this should be some absolutely sublime post, a post that I'll be able to look back on and be like, "Whoa, dude. That was some kick ass 100th post." Unfortunately, the chances of that happening are like 1 in ... well like, a hundred. So I guess that today's writing will contain a large collection of rambles and incoherent statements, like usual.

So I was at work yesterday and I was thinking, "Why is it okay to say 'ladies' but it sounds weird to to just say 'lady'?"

Repeat after me

"What's going on, ladies?" -- Yep, that sounds pretty decent to me.

But what about:

"What's going on, lady?"

Whoa. That just sounds so wrong. But how could this be? After all, the only difference between the two sentences is that in one the noun is singular, and in the other the noun is plural. It's just that when I hear the word "lady" it sounds so harsh. Sort of like if someone were saying, "Give me all your money, lady!"

But yes, that was my random thought of the day, and something that kept me thinking throughout my 5 hour shift.

And yes, that was my 100th post.

:)
